Changes at MPL

There are several changes at the library this month. First off we now have one set of electronic doors. They are fantastic for those with strollers, wheelchairs, or arms full of books (and librarians checking the outside book drop). The compressor for the air-conditioning has been fixed. Our roof has been replaced so hopefully no more leaks. And we have some new faces working at the circulation desk. So come on in and "see" all of the changes.

Speaking of changes we are changing the day our book group meets. We will no longer meet on the 3rd Wednesday. We will now meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Our next book group will be Thursday, October 14th.

Banned or Challenged Book of your choice

There is a display and listing of banned books at my desk or your can check out this list at ALA.org Choose a banned book and then tell the group why it is banned and if you agree with the challenge. Does it belong on a library shelf? Why or why not?

I have chosen The Witch of Blackbird PondThe Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare. It is a Newbery winner that has been accused of teaching witchcraft and of being to violent.

What book did you choose?
